Peru (Northern Coastal / Piura-Chiclayo-Trujillo)

andean_pacificintro

Peru · Piura / Chiclayo / Trujillo

Peru's northern coast is most reliably distinguished by its intonation, not its consonants: a rising, song-like contour that Peruvians themselves routinely name as the clearest marker of 'hablar norteño.' Segmental behavior (coda /s/, vowels) stays close to the Lima coastal pattern; this preset deliberately does not claim specific consonantal differences from Lima that this author could not verify against a source (flag for native-speaker review). The region also carries a well-known distinct vocabulary this app's phonetic matrix does not represent -- lexicon sits outside what this model captures.
