Haiti (Port-au-Prince / Standard Kreyòl)
Reference-quality preset: a phonetic matrix and a short blurb, not a full flagship build-out. See a flagship variety (Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Panama) for situations, cultural context, sayings, and a guided path.
Haiti · Port-au-Prince / Standard
Kreyòl ayisyen is a full, autonomous language with its own 1979 IPN orthography and its own grammar -- not a French dialect and not 'broken French'. The Port-au-Prince/standard variety anchors dictionaries and schooling: phonemic nasal vowels, a seven-vowel oral system that spells the open/close mid vowels separately (e vs è, o vs ò), and preverbal tense-mood-aspect particles (te, ap, pral) rather than Spanish/French-style verb conjugation.
