The Canaries sound more Caribbean than Peninsular: seseo, aspirated coda /s/, a lilting final-syllable stretch that Cuban and Puerto Rican Spanish inherited from centuries of Canarian emigration, and the same aspirated [h] realization of jota shared with the Caribbean and Andalusia rather than mainland Spain's velar fricative.
